Located at Court Street and 14th Street in the heart of Pekin, Mineral Springs Park features over 200 acres of quality, family-fun. This includes a playground, water park, lagoon with paddle boats and fishing, skate park, bike trail, dog park, mini-golf, tennis courts, softball/baseball fields, basketball courts, sand volleyball, picnic areas and shelters, fitness center, arena with ice rink and program space, and more. Find Your Fun
Walk the Lagoon
Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
The Pekin Park Lagoon is well known for its serene walking conditions. One lap around the Lagoon is approximately 1/2 mile and is handicapped accessible. Swings and benches are placed around the lagoon for a relaxing pause.
Play on the Playground
Hours: 6:00 a.m. – Dusk
The Mineral Springs Park Playground is legendary in Pekin and has been the source of fun for generations of children. Home to numerous slides, swings, bridges, and places to climb and imagine, this is one spot you have to bring your kids to explore. It’s also located right across from the lagoon, making it easy to see the ducks and geese all in one trip! Benches and a surrounding sidewalk are included for parents to keep watch. Plus, picnic tables and public restrooms are located near the playground.
Bike the Trail

At a total of 4.3 miles, the Pekin Park Bike Trail starts at Allentown Road, circles Coal Miners’ Park, passes through Mineral Springs Park, and ends at Riverfront Park and Miller Park down by the river. Bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, strollers, dogs on leashes, joggers, and walkers are welcome! Please note that parts of the trail between 14th Street and the river is on city sidewalks. To stay on the trail, be sure to follow regulation trail signs and arrows.
Paddle the Boats

With over 15 paddle boats, including our infamous Dragon boat, this is a family favorite for many! Come for a relaxing pedal boat ride on our beautiful Lagoon. The cost for a 30-minute ride is $5 per person.
Putt-Putt with Mini-Golf
Hours: Varies (see schedule) Summer hours only
Meet up for 18 holes of choice, chance, and challenge at Magic Dragon Mini Golf! Here, you’ll weave through water features, a real caboose (it’s hole No. 4!), beautiful landscapes, and tributes to Pekin’s history. The cost is $5.00 for 4 and up.
Swim the Waters

DragonLand Water Park has something for everyone with zero-depth entries, two water slides that twist and turn, “Dude” the dragon slide, a mushroom waterfall geyser, a sand and water play area, and a massive pool deck with over 200 sunbathing chairs. The water park also includes a two sand volleyball courts, concession stand, shower, and locker facilities and can be lighted for special night activities.
Reel in a Fish
Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
The Lagoon has been stocked with bass, bluegill and catfish. Some years, IDNR also has stocked the Lagoon in the fall with Trout. There are numerous docks around the Lagoon where you can set up your pole. To fish on the Lagoon, you must follow State of Illinois DNR licensing regulations. Glide on the Ice
Hours: Varies (see schedule) Winter hours only
Indoor ice skating is available at Mineral Springs Park in Veterans Memorial Arena. Public skates open up from November to March. Admission is $8 per skater with skate rental included. Ice skating is also allowed on the Lagoon in the winter if the ice has been approved as safe. Signs will be posted and this is enforced by the park police.
Visit the Gardens
Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Hop over to the Sunken Gardens located on 14th and Court Street (across from the Lagoon) to check out a delightful lighted fountain and the World’s Greatest Sundial. This unique sundial tells the hours before or after noon and the highest point of the sun on a given day.
Play with your Dog
Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Allow your dog to run free in a secure, fenced enclosure at Happy Tails Dog Park, located along Court Street and Coal Car Drive. With double-gated entries for safety and separate enclosures for large and small dogs, this is the place your dog will want to come play. Pet watering stations are supplied with potable (safe to drink) water. Each station has a “community” pet bowl, but there is also a jug filler for owners to fill “private” bowls. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair if you plan on sitting. Permanent benches and tables have been omitted from the dog park by design. The dog park is lit for evening use.

Host a Picnic
Mineral Springs Park has numerous picnic tables throughout the grounds. Eat under the trees, in the warm sun, or in the Royal Avenue Shelter located on Royal Avenue by the baseball fields.
Park Concessions at Mineral Springs Park and Lagoon
Need a snack? We’ve got nachos, hot dogs, pretzels, cotton candy, and more of your favorite treats including the best ice cream in town – available at the DragonLand Water Park concessions walk-up window. Limited concessions are also available at Magic Dragon Mini-Golf. Hours and days are weather dependent and are subject to change due to the weather.
