Youth Hockey
Available Seasonally – September through February
Have a young hockey lover in your house with Stanley Cup dreams? The popular Little Stars Hockey program from Pekin Park District is designed to get the youngest hockey star hopefuls ready for recreational or competitive play.
While kids ages 3 – 5 will work on the fundamental skills of hockey in this program, the focus still is on having fun. Our teachers and coaches also get help from Pekin Dragon Hockey as game schedules permit – that means some of the best coaches in the area will help your skater develop their hockey skills for the future!
Some of the skills your child will work on in Little Stars Hockey include:
- Power skating
- Stick handling
- Passing
- Shooting
- Most importantly sportsmanship and team play
No prior skating experience is necessary to join this class and loaner equipment is available for all participants at no charge. Actual games begin at the end of the first session. All games are non-competitive and are designed to teach team play and the love of the game. The league schedule includes two 45-minute practices and one game weekly.
